ReACTION Youth Program

ReACTION is the NYAGV Education Fund’s youth education program to prevent and reduce gun violence. Taught in New York City public schools, the program teaches students about the dangers of gun violence and how they can advocate to make positive change in their communities.

ReACTION follows a year-long curriculum focusing on personal responsibility, group interaction and community engagement and culminates in a year-end trip to Albany. Students learn skills such as public speaking, debating, planning and organizing, and conflict resolution that will benefit them throughout their lives.

New! Miller Mentorship Program

This summer we’re empowering our students to step out of the classroom and act to improve their communities with the new Miller Mentorship Program. Our youth leaders and staff are mentoring seven high school students who participated in our ReACTION Program. during the school year

Mentees are exploring how gun violence intersects with race, gender, and economic inequality and galvanizing other youth to advocate for safer schools, streets, and communities.  So far, mentees have discussed America’s gun violence problem, how other countries have addressed gun violence, the type of American society they each envision, and the relationship of toxic masculinity and gun violence.
