With schools closed and gun violence on the rise, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund is launching #PowerInPlace: An online education program and source of strength, stability, and safety for students whose communities are most impacted by COVID-19 and gun violence.

As part of #PowerInPlace, NYAGV Ed Fund set up a weekly virtual support group and is bringing real-time programming into New York City’s online classrooms. The organization is also working with activists at Youth Over Guns to prepare for the youth-led remote Advocacy Week from May 11-15, so that students can bring their concerns directly to lawmakers.

NYAGV: Youth Empowerment during COVID-19

The ramifications of the COVID-19 crisis will likely ripple through communities well beyond the immediate emergency. The #PowerInPlace curriculum teaches critical thinking, personal safety and advocacy–skills that are valuable for youth leaders now and as society emerges from this crisis.

Please support #PowerInPlace with a tax deductible donation so we can reach more students.

NYAGV Ed Fund is seeking to raise $40,000 to provide #PowerInPlace opportunities for as many students as possible. Please click here to donate and learn more about the program! Thank you!
