The NYAGV Education Fund has launched two new youth-led summer programs to train youth advocates!

Miller Mentorship Program:

This summer we’re empowering our students to step out of the classroom and advocate in their communities. Our outstanding team of youth leaders and staff are mentoring seven high school students who participated in our school-based ReACTION Program.

Mentees are exploring how gun violence intersects with race, gender, and economic inequality and galvanizing other youth to advocate for safer schools, streets, and communities. On their first day, mentees started their day with a scavenger hunt at the Ford Foundation (shown right). They then discussed America’s gun violence problem, how other countries have addressed gun violence, and the type of American society they each envision.

Youth-led Community Workshops:

NYAGV’s youth arm, Youth Over Guns, is leading workshops for middle and high school students about gun violence prevention and advocacy.  We are committed to supporting New York City’s underserved communities and are offering workshops to community-based organizations in neighborhoods that are disproportionately impacted by gun violence.

Will you help support these youth education programs with a donation of $50?

Your donation will help us reach more young people this summer. Thank you!
