Learn how to speaking publicly, prepare speeches, and advocate for your ideas at this workshop. You’ll critique actual speeches given by the instructor, and discuss the message, effectiveness, and impact on the audience. Then you’ll work in a group to prepare and present a speech about a gun violence topic, and help judge the speeches by your peers.

Topics include:

  • Components of an effective speech.
  • How to organize thoughts, ideas, themes and evidence.
  •  Overcoming stage fright.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Current issues about gun violence.
  • How to talk with your peers and community members about gun violence.
